| I have a comprehensive policy of motor insurance,
will I have to pay anything towards the repairs to my vehicle and who will
be responsible for repairing it? Under the terms of your comprehensive policy it is your own vehicle insurers who will be responsible for arranging the repair or writing off of your vehicle and for payment of any expenses associated with your vehicle's recovery or storage. Virtually all comprehensive policies of motor insurance will have a policy excess applicable. Your insurance company will ask you to pay that excess of the repair or if your vehicle is written off they will deduct the excess from the settlement cheque in respect of the pre-accident value of your vehicle before making the payment to you. If you obtain a receipted account for the excess this will be included as part of your claim. Back to Frequently Asked Questions Click here to read a glossary of personal injury terms |
